Nursery Curriculum

At Chiddingstone Nursery School CIO our curriculum is focused and centred around the individual child. Embracing their interests and being responsive to their curiosity and thinking.

Our free flow indoor/outdoor approach allows children the freedom to make choices and be an advocate of their own learning.

Children are given the opportunity to explore, appreciate and understand the natural world, take managed risks, and ultimately to develop a love for the outdoors.

Our curriculum is a harmonious blend of Planning in the Moment, alongside the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage. This involves emphasising the importance of play and child led learning, in conjunction with adult led activities and interactions.

This approach is used as a vehicle to deliver the seven areas of the early year’s curriculum within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). These seven areas of learning are divided into Prime and Specific areas of learning.

Prime Areas

  • Personal social and emotional development
  • Physical development
  • Communication and language

Specific Areas

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

Our experienced practitioners provide a range of play invitations, experiences, and opportunities that support all areas within the EYFS.
