Chiddingstone Nursery School CIO follows the statutory guidance provided by the Early Years Foundation Stage 2023 (EYFS) to ensure the learning experiences, opportunities and safety of the children in our care are of the highest possible standards. All settings who care for children under the age of 5 years are required by law to meet these requirements.
Our curriculum is focused and centred around the individual child. We aim to embrace the interests of the children and be responsive to their curiosity and thinking. Our free flow indoor/outdoor approach allows children the freedom to make choices and be an advocate of their own learning.
We hold high value towards the natural environment which is reflected in our curriculum enrichments. Children are given the opportunity to explore, appreciate and understand the natural world, take managed risks, and ultimately to develop a love for the outdoors. All children have access to an onsite woodland.
Practitioners are facilitators to children’s learning. Their role is to observe, support and extend learning. To offer meaningful opportunities and experiences whilst listening to the child and tuning in to their needs and interests.
